San Teodoro

In the period of Giudicati the town was called Offolle and was under the jurisdiction of Gallura. From 1700 it was named San Teodoro after the church of San Teodoro di Amasea, dedicated to a martyr of the fourth century, around which gathered the country, then a simple community of the country. After World War II begins the development of tourism on the coast of Sardinia, San Teodoro, which also involves: the town soon became famous for its unspoilt, white sandy beaches, lush backdrops. In June there is the Feast of San Teodoro: three days of fireworks, performances of folklore groups and theatrical performances, concerts and sporting events. In September, however, is the time of the Feast of the lagoon, which provides nature tours by boat, the feast of the roe - typical product of the lagoon - music and folklore shows.

Beaches

San Teodoro has 12 beaches, all free, over 37 km of coastline. The most famous are: La Cinta, an expanse of dazzling white sand dunes lapped by the emerald sea, Cala D'Ambra, with golden sand and Isuledda, surrounded by juniper trees.

The lagoon

It houses a floral and faunal heritage of immense value. Here live undisturbed pink flamingos, herons, hawks and other species. The lagoon of San Teodoro is surrounded by Mediterranean forest.

The protected marine area of ​​Tavolara

The depths of San Teodoro are part of the marine protected Tavolara-Punta Coda Cavallo, founded in 1997 to protect the environmental heritage of this area. In some places marked on the coast of San Teodoro, you can dive alone or with the assistance of the diving centers.
