“The Beaches of Sardegna”

Most of my time in Sardegna was spent on the beaches. In fact, every day was an adventure to a new beach. My favorite beach was San Teodoro. This was the best beach that I had the good fortune to visit while in the northeast of Sardegna. It was late August, and the beach was absolutely packed with vacationing Italians from the mainland. Everyone was relaxed, sleeping, and soaking up some sun. The water here is incredibly clear and extremely shallow – a foot or two of water extends into the Mediterranean for about 50 feet or so. The beach has soft white sand. This makes the beach a great place to chill and relax with friends.

There are definitely other options; in fact, the entire area of Costa Smeralda is covered with beaches. You can find anything, from the popular, crowded beaches of San Teodoro to more secluded ones.Sardegna Beaches

In Porto Rotondo, there are several small beaches just off the main road that goes through the town. These beaches tended to have more rocks to climb on and perhaps more character. You can walk for miles up and down the beaches, with some small encounters with some cool rocks to climb on.

The beaches in the area of Porto Cervo seemed to be a healthy mix of crowds and seclusion, in between San Teodro and Porto Rotondo. These beaches had the best snorkeling action, with tons of interesting rocks and critters to intrigue you. Look for beaches around Capriccioli and Liscia di Vacca.

I would recommend hanging out in the Porto Cervo area and making day trips down to Porto Rotondo and San Teodoro. They are only 30 to 45 minutes away and definitely worth the trip!
